Parent Workshops

In depth information sessions for parents who want the best up to date evidence on how to support their children in the rapidly shifting sands of the digital age, with a focus on development across the lifespan...

Josh is a father of three young children. He knows a lot about the challenges of managing school life, extra-curricular appointments, having concerns about your child's learning, mental health, social life, screen time, etc. The list is long.

He holds a PhD in clinical psychology, a Masters in clinical psychology, and a Bachelor of Science major in Psychology. He has worked for over a decade and half in university, public and private health settings, predominantly working with children with severe an complex mental health issues. He has also spent a lot of time supporting children with less severe needs, or helping parents  figure out there are no 'needs' to worry about at all.

As part of this journey, Josh has seen a need for parents to get good quality advice and support, ideally at the start of their child's mental health journey. Often times knowing what is going on with your child is very tricky to ascertain, even for the professionals. Even more challenging is knowing 'where should I go next' after receiving a diagnosis, or something similar. Often knowing 'where should I probably not go' is just as important. Social media has made this all the more challenging. In short, Josh created this consultancy to help families navigate the complex mental health system.

Josh also has a lot of experience delivering intensive family interventions with an attachment focus, both over long (i.e. 6-20 weeks) and short  (i.e. three hour intensive session) term timeframes. These lectures are designed specifically for families who would like practical and evidence-based strategies to implement straight away. You will leave every workshop with a solid understanding of best-practice parent intervention strategies as they relate to mental health.

As a busy parent, Josh decided that a core feature of this service would be to help time poor families get support and information (and strategies) to help their children in a timely and efficient manner. Life, especially for working parents, is busy and fatiguing. Our service offerings are just a 'one off', but they are impactful. We also offer a post-workshop resource package directing you to quality evidence-based resources and intervention service options.

One last thing, we have opened up a specific managing screens workshop for parents, as it has become necessary. Barely any child with mental health issues is left untouched by the many pitfalls of technology, often in ways you may be surprised about. Sometimes screen can cause mental health issues all of their own. We hope to have you covered with this exciting new workshop.

Whether you are concerned about your child and do not have a clear picture of what is going on, or if you have a child with a recent or longstanding mental health issue, we think we can help.

Josh wants you to leave each consultation not just feeling - but being - empowered in your decision making.
